WHAT ARE OPIATES?
Opiates are both prescription and non prescription drugs that come from the opium plant and are known narcotics. The most commonly known opiates are morphine, codeine and heroin. Opiates are among the most abused narcotics in North America.
STREET NAMES
 
Big O, Black Stuff, Gum, Hop, Dope, Smack, Train, Monkey, White Stuff, Poppycock.
SYMPTOMS
 
An individual who is taking Opiates will experience a number of symptoms such as extreme euphoria, dry mouth, feeling of "heavy extremities, sedation, shallow breathing, nausea, vomiting, itchy skin, and constipation.
WITHDRAWAL
 
An individual who is in withdrawal from Opiate use will often experience restlessness, muscle pain, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, vomiting, and cold sweats.
